Dovecote

Sometimes you'll hear New Zealanders claiming they are as happy as a 'box of birds'.  Well I'd be as happy as a Barrel of Birds if I owned this.

This is an amazing piece... the color variations and shadows are so well placed and create so much mood and interest. It looks like such a simple subject at first glance, but it hold the eye for an extra long time because of the rhythm and flow of the colors and lines. Well done!

Katherine, I'm so happy it speaks to you. :) It is just a quick sketch on a cheap piece of paper, but for me they are usually the ones that turn out best.

Felicity - Thank you. :) This dovecote was a gift to a dear friend from her husband. Soon she will be filling it with white fantails. I love going out to the farm to paint them. I think I was working on a manifestation - that if I painted it, it might turn into a real one!

Sue - Thank you too. It's the cutest bird house I've seen.

So sweet! Lovely shadow describing the form. If I were your friend I think I'd use this as a home logo.

Thanks Cathy. I can't wait to try it again once the doves are in residence.

Jeanette - Many thanks.
